Day 1: Arrival at Vientiane (D, G)
Arriving at Vientiane airport, you’ll be met and driven to your hotel. After a short rest, you’ll set out on our orientation short orientation walk of the Lao Capital, strolling around the city, and observing the sunset by the Mekong Riverside and imbibing the lifestyle of the Lao people. You’ll spend the night in Vientiane.
Day 2: Vientiane city tour (B, L, G)
Today’s city tour will include visits to Wat Si Saket, Vientiane’s oldest temple, and the Wat Pha Keo Museum. From there you’ll visit That Luang Stupa, en-route is the eye catching Patuxay Monument. The morning will end with a visit to the local ‘Morning Market’ which is good for antiques (occasionally a genuine item turns up!), handmade textiles and other souvenirs.
After lunch, you’ll visit Wat Ong Tu, the Temple of the Heavy Buddha. You will spend the night in Vientiane.
Day 3: Vientiane/Pakse/Wat Phou/Done Khone Island (B, L, D, G)
After breakfast, you’ll be driven to the airport for a morning flight to Pakse where you’ll be picked up and taken to Champasak. Here, you’ll visit the ruins of Wat Phou, an important Hindu sanctuary during the 9th –13th century for the Khmer Empire. There’s also a chance to visit some other Khmer temples and Buddhist shrines before your 20 minute boat trip to Done Khone island. The rest of the day will be yours to stroll around the island. |

Day 4: Don Khone Island Surrounding (B, L, D, G)
After an early breakfast you will explore the local villages of Ban Khone, where the old French colonial buildings still stand, you’ll learn the history of the colonial past by visiting the location of the first Lao railway and locomotive, built during the colonial period. You’ll then board a boat that will take you around the area of 4000 islands stopping off at the Samphamith waterfalls along the edge of the Cambodia and Laos border. If your lucky you may see the rare freshwater Irrawaddy Mekong Delta dolphin in Ban Hang Khone. Later you will return to the Sala Done Khone to spend the rest of the day your own way. Your overnight accommodation will be on Don Khone Island. |

Day 5: Done Khone Island/King Fisher Ecolodge (B, L, D, G)
Your morning will be free to stroll around the island on your own. You’ll then drive to the famous waterfalls of Khone Phapeng, the biggest waterfall in South East Asia. After that, you’ll be taken to the King Fisher Ecolodge for your overnight accommodation. |

Day 6 to Day 8: King Fisher Ecolodge free (B, L, D each day)
Your time will be on your own!
Day 9: King Fisher Ecolodge/Champasak/Pakse/Vientiane (B, DP)
After breakfast, your guide will drive you back to Pakse in time to catch a morning flight to Vientiane. Arriving in Vientiane, you’ll be met and transferred to your hotel where you will be free for the rest of the day, spending the night in Vientiane.
Day 10: Vientiane departure (B, DP)
Free time until transferred to the airport for your departure flight. |
