This 5-day itinerary is truly an opportunity to participate in the everyday life of the Mekong Delta. You will have chance to ride through beautiful areas of lush fruit orchards, endless paddy fields, lively floating market, busy canals and also have chances to interact with local people and get closer to their daily life.
Day 1: Ho Chi Minh City arrival (D, GP)
Arriving at Tan Son Nhat airport in Ho Chi Minh City, you’ll be met and driven to your hotel. After checking in, you’ll be free for a preliminary wander around the hustle and bustle streets of this busy city. In the evening, your guide will take you for dinner in a good local restaurant. You will spend the night in a hotel.
Day 2: Ho Chi Minh City/My Tho/Vinh Long (B, L, D, G)
After breakfast, you will drive to My Tho where you will board a boat cruise in the Mekong River. Your guide will take you to visit the fruit orchards, a traditional family-run brick kiln, and some long established cottage industries. After lunch with Mekong Delta’s specialty, you will have a 2-hour ride along a narrow road and pass local farms and fruit orchards. You will have dinner and spend the night in a local family house.
Day 3: Vinh Long/Long Xuyen/Chau Doc (B, L, G)
The bike ride today will take you to An Hoa and then onto Chau Doc. This is a long day on two wheels, going through immense rice fields and countryside villages. After lunch, you will be transfered to Chau Doc, then on our bike again for Sam Mountain. On arrival, you will hike up 2.5km to summit of Sam mountain where you will enjoy sun set over the panorama rice fields between Viet Nam and Cambodia. You will spend the night in Chau Doc.
Day 4: Chau Doc/Tri Ton/Can Tho (B, L, G)
Get up early in the morning for a boat cruise through amazing riverside market with all its bustling activity and smorgasbord of sounds, colours and smells. You will then cruise through the fish-farm village producing tons and tons of fish beneath hundreds of floating homes. Discover the ethnic Cham village with its famous Mubarak Mosque and observe local women at their traditional weaving. You will then cycle to Cambodia border with a stop over Tra Su natrual reserve, see Khmer pagoda en-route. You will spend the night in a hotel.
Day 5: Can Tho/Ho Chi Minh City (B, L, G)
After breakfast and a boat cruise you’ll arrive at Cai Rang floating market on the Mekong Delta. On your return to Ho Chi Minh City, you’ll call in at the beautiful and ancient Vinh Trang pagoda, 3 km from My Tho centre.You’ll arrive in Ho Chi Minh City in the late afternoon and have the rest of the day free at leisure. Tour ends.
