Day 1: Hanoi/Mai Chau/Hang Kia Village (L, D, G)
Pick up at your hotel in Hanoi in the morning, you will be driven to Mai Chau.. The drive to Mai Chau takes about 3.5 hours, but the pleasing scenery with rice paddies and green mountains more than compensates. A short break along the way is included.
On arrival at Mai Chau, you will be welcomed by the friendly local Thai people where you will have lunch. After lunch, you will leave unnecessary luggage before driving to Hang Kia Village. Hang Kia, located 1,000m above the sea level, is inhabited by the H’mong ethnic minority community. The mountain air and a cool breeze make a two hour walk a positive joy as you stride through the verdant foliage peppered with fruit trees, animals and wildlife.
The evening offers local culinary delights coupled with plenty of the locally brewed rice wine followed by a night in a family stilt-house. |
