10 days tour with visits to Phnom Penh, Battambang, Siem Reap, Kampong Thom

Day 1: Phnom Penh arrival (G)
When you arrive at Pochentong airport in Phnom Penh, you’ll be met and driven to your hotel. After a short rest, you’ll visit the National Museum, the Royal Palace and the Silver Pagoda. Your overnight accommodation will be in Phnom Penh.
Day 2: Phnom Penh/the ‘Killing Fields’ (B, G)
In the morning, you’ll be picked up and driven to the so-called ‘Killing Fields’. In the afternoon, your time will be free for souvenir shopping, sightseeing or whatever. Your overnight accommodation will be in Phnom Penh.
Day 3: Phnom Penh/Battambang (B, L, D, G)
After breakfast at your hotel, you will be driven from Phnom Penh to Battambang by National road No 5 (291 Kms). Along the way, you will visit various temples and the three large stupas where the ashes of three former kings are preserved. You will then visit the most impressive structure of the site, the “Vihara of the 18-Cubit Buddha”. Continue towards Kampong Chnnang province and stop at Kompong Tralach Leu Pagoda, a lovely ancient Pagoda nestled in the village of Kompong Tralach and have lunch in a local restaurant.
After lunch, you will continue driving and stop at the small rural village of Ban Chkol, 8 km before Pursat which is famous for pottery. Stroll around the village and have a chat with the friendly villagers. Arriving in Battambang in the late afternoon, you will be checking in a hotel where you will spend the night. |

Day 4: Battambang (B, L, D, G)
After breakfast at hotel, you will drive to the Phnom Bannon Hill and climb the 337 steps (80 m high) to reach the temple. You will visit the Prasat Bannon temple from XII century and enjoy the outstanding view over the surrounding plains. Lunch will be served in a local restaurant in Battambang.
In the afternoon, you will drive to Wat Ek Phnom then proceed to visit the Wat Ek Phnom, a nice 11th century temple which offers a very peaceful atmosphere in the countryside, surrounded by trees and lily ponds. Next to the temple, you can see the Wat Ek Phnom Pagoda which has one of the most complete collections of Buddhist wall and ceiling paintings in all Cambodia. You will spend the night in Battambang. |

Day 5: Battambang/Siem Reap by boat (B, L, G)
This morning, you will boad a private speedboat from Battambang to Siem Reap in the Tonle Sap Lake. The trip will lasts for 6-7 hours passing wonderful landscape and the daily life along the river banks. Lunch will be served on board.
Arriving in Siem Reap, you will be transferred to your hotel where you will spend the night.
Day 6: Siem Reap (B, L, G)
After breakfast, you’ll begin with a visit to Angkor Thom, starting with the Bayon. Your next visit will be to the Elephant and Leper Emperor Terraces, followed by the Baphoun Temple, which is now nearing the end of an eight-year multi-million dollar restoration programme. You’ll then visit Ta Prohm, strangled by massive tree roots and typical of the condition of the whole complex when it was discovered in 1860 by French naturalist Henri Mouhot, and Neak Pean, a Himalayan-style lake and sanctuary.
In the afternoon, you’ll explore Angkor Wat itself, the largest, and for most people, the most impressive temple in the complex. Your overnight accommodation will be in Siem Reap.
Day 7: Siem Reap (B, L, G)
In the morning, an hour drive will take you to Banteay Srey Temple which displays some of the finest examples of classical Khmer art with some of the most beautiful, deep and intricate carvings. You’ll return to your hotel with en-route visit to a local family that makes sugar palm.
In the afternoon, you’ll transfer to visit the Roluos Group: the Preah Ko, the temple-mountain of Bakong and the Lolei temple set in the middle of a former water reservoir or Baray. You will then visit the ‘Chantiers Ecoles - Les Artisans d'Angkor’ which provides training to young Cambodians in an effort to revive the ancient Khmer traditions of stone carving and wood sculpting. You will spend the night in Siem Reap. |

Day 8: Siem Reap/Sambor Prei Kuk/Kampong Thom (B, L, D, G)
After breakfast at hotel, you will drive to Kampong Thom (146 Km, 2.30 hrs). On arrival in Sambor Prei Kuk, you will visit the ancient capital of Chenla with its 100 temples dating back to the Pre-Angkorian period. Picnic lunch will be served on site. Arriving in Kampong Thom, you will check in hotel and have free time at leisure. |

Day 9: Kampong Thom/Kampong Cham/Phnom Penh (B, L, D, G)
After breakfast at local restaurant, you will be driven to Kampong Cham province (134 kms, 3hrs) and stop to visit Phum Brasat and Wat Koha Norkor on the way. Pass the villages of the Muslim minority in Cambodia, the Cham. You will arrive Kampong Cham by early afternoon and have lunch in a local restaurant.
In the afternoon, you will have a short tour around the town to view samples of colonial architecture. Afterwards, you will continue your journey to Phnom Penh and check-in at your hotel where you will spend the night.
Day 10: Phnom Penh departure (B, GP)
Free time until transferred to the airport for departure flight. Tour ends. |
